“The courthouse is the one place where everybody is supposed to get a fair shot. My job is to make sure that happens.”

Mike Hollingsworth maintains a statewide litigation practice representing individuals and families in complex cases of catastrophic injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and sexual abuse. Mike approaches the practice of law from his clients’ viewpoint and his passion is achieving fairness for all regardless of a person’s background or circumstances. He especially relishes cases against “powerful” opponents and writing about complex legal and procedural issues.

His experience has taken him through every level of Virginia’s court system, both state and federal. He has tried dozens of jury and bench trials throughout Virginia and obtained countless winning verdicts and outcomes for his clients.  Mike’s encyclopedic knowledge of law and procedure have also aided his appellate skills, and he has successfully briefed and argued cases in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

Mike graduated from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. where he focused on advocacy, procedure and evidence through case study and competitive practice in trial and moot court competitions. He also worked for a judge and served as a teaching assistant for an ethics professor. Additional academic accomplishments include multiple scholarships for academic performance, community service, and legal writing.

In college, Mike was an intern in The White House and the U.S. House of Representatives, giving him behind-the-scenes insight into the operation of our federal government. He also worked for the Boys and Girls Club where he helped elementary school students with homework and life skills. He graduated Dean’s List from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and also obtained a certificate in political management from George Washington University.

Mike and his family live in Old Town Alexandria, VA. He enjoys watching his son grow up, alone time with his wife, pro sports, playing golf, fishing in Florida, reading, the beach, and cooking on his Big Green Egg.
