Samantha Pettican

PARALEGAL

“It’s important to be that person who is there for them; to give them the assurance that we’ve done this before, and it’s going to be okay.”

Growing up in a small town outside of Richmond, Samantha came to Nichols Zauzig in 2019 – just three days after getting married and then moving to Woodbridge. She has a B.S. in Foreign Studies from the University of Virginia and is nearly done with coursework for an associate degree in paralegal studies.

Samantha worked two years at a small law firm in Richmond, increasing her role from receptionist to litigation paralegal after one year. At Nichols Zauzig, her exceptional organizational and planning skills help both attorneys and clients stay on track and know the status of their cases at all times. Soft skills are also integral to her work. “People going through divorce feel like their whole world is crashing down on them. It’s important to be that person who is there for them; to give them the assurance that we’ve done this before, and it’s going to be okay.”

Passionate about international history, Samantha spent three months immersed in the Spanish culture as part of a semester abroad in college. Her original path in life was to work in the State Department, but during her senior year of college, she sat in on her roommate’s law class and “the spark was lit—I knew I wanted to work in the field of law.”

At Nichols Zauzig, Samantha has become an integral part of the family law team. And she is proud by association. “All of the attorneys here have so much experience. Even if the craziest situation happens, they have an answer to every problem. People have confidence in our attorneys being the best. And so do I.”
